Workshop on Contemporary Political Economy, jointly co-organized by Azim Premji University and King’s College London (4–5 July 2025)

I recently volunteered at a powerful workshop on Contemporary Political Economy, jointly organized by Azim Premji University and King’s College London (4–5 July 2025).

The workshop opened up critical conversations on environment, gender, public policy, globalisation, institutional development, and India’s economic challenges in a changing geopolitical world.

A few questions really stayed with me:

— Why is economic gains so unequally distributed?

— How do social norms, especially gender roles, shape that gap between rich and poor?

— Can we measure patriarchy—and how does it influence women’s participation in the economy?

One fascinating case was about Ukrainian refugees in Poland—part of a 6.4 million person migration. We explored how migrants often show stronger entrepreneurial tendencies than locals, which was both surprising and inspiring.

Most importantly, I learned how to present research effectively: with clear motivation, structured content, strategic approach, and meaningful conclusions. This experience helped me see how ideas can become impactful when shared well.
