International conference on social identities, institutions, and economic development in South Asia.

On January 17-18, 2025, Azim Premji University in Bhopal hosted an international conference on social identities, institutions, and economic development in South Asia.

The conference brought together a diverse group of speakers, including notable figures such as Amrita Dhillon from King's College London, Pallavi Roy from SOAS University of London, and Achin Chakraborty from the Institute of Development Studies, Kolkata.

The discussions at the conference were vibrant and thought-provoking, covering a range of critical issues. Topics included the "Beti Bachao Beti Padhao" initiative, children's school education, and the agricultural system and policies during the colonial period. PhD scholars and various other participants contributed their insights and research on these subjects, fostering a rich exchange of ideas.

I had the privilege of attending the conference as a volunteer, which allowed me to engage with the speakers and participants directly. This experience was incredibly enriching, providing me with valuable insights and learning opportunities. I gained a deeper understanding of the various socio-economic issues facing South Asia and the efforts being made to address them.

In addition to the formal sessions, the conference provided ample opportunity for networking and collaboration among attendees, enhancing the overall experience and paving the way for future research and development in the field of social identities and economic development in South Asia.
